Third Graders Prepare Gift Boxes for Local Shelters

Third graders at Burr made a difference in the community on Tuesday.
After students each earned $1 at home by doing extra chores, the third graders donated the proceeds of their extra work to support local shelters.
During class on Tuesday, the students decorated boxes with “Happy Valentine’s Day” messages and stickers. They then packed the boxes with items including toiletries, socks and gloves that were purchased with their donations.
The boxes soon will be delivered to Helping Hands Rescue Mission in Huntington.
