Burr Fifth Graders Channel '80s with Rousing Performance

The curtain has gone up on the 25th annual Burr fifth grade play.
The fifth graders performed. “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” for third graders on Tuesday morning, and plan to repeat the performance for fourth graders in the afternoon. Then, family members and friends will attend showings on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
Under the direction of Beth Tanzi, Amy Dank and Rachel Geiser, the show includes 234 student performers and 175 individual speaking parts, and arrives after three months of before school and lunchtime rehearsals.
It features Mr. Rogers and skits patterned after several 1980s sitcoms. Musical interludes from that era also are featured.
Above all, the performance teaches the differences between right and wrong.
