Third Graders Learn about Countries spanning Globe

Stephanie Geoghegan’s third-grade class at Burr learned about countries spanning the globe while embracing their families’ heritages on Friday.
The students each created a diorama focusing on a country with which their families have ties. The elaborate designs included the Leaning Tower of Pisa for Italy, Big Ben for England and samples of Chinese currency.
The third graders then went around the room and each shared the continent and three facts about the country they studied.
The event culminated with the students singing, “It’s a Small World.”
The dioramas and a video of the students singing will be on display at the district’s Multicultural Festival, which will be hosted by CMS on April 5.
